On the 9th Day of Christmas

Today it is my turn you show you something during this fun 12 days of Christmas. I've made a tutorial for you of a book card.
You need:
- cardstock
- design paper
- scoring board
- border punch
- ribbon
For the book inside you need 4 pieces of cardstock. 2 of 24x12 cm (9.46x4.93 inch) and 2 of 24x14,5 cm (9.46x5.71 inch).

For the card you need a piece of cardstock of 15x29,4 cm (5.91x11.58 inch).
Score at 13,7 and 15,7 cm (5.4 and 6.19 inch).

Score the 4 pieces of cardstock at every 2 cm (0.79 inch). Make a decorative edge at the end of every strip with a border punch.

Fold the strips like an accordion. Make sure that every fold is straight!

If you want you can ink the edges.
Now comes the hard part. That is putting it together.

Stick a short strip and a long strip together. Make sure that the long strip is on top.

Glue the short side on top and then the long side.

Also glue the back side together.

Do this with the other 2 strips and then put the 2 parts together so you get a frame.
Front
Back

Before you put the in the card you glue the ribbon on the insides of the card.

Now you decorate the inside of the card with design paper and glue the frame in the card.

Now just decorate the bookcard and you're finished.

Today with our tutorial we are also giving you this set of "To: From" sentiments.  These sentiments will be available for download from now through December 12th.  Remember...sharing freebies is not allowed, but please do send your friends to our blog to get their freebies.

On the 8th Day of Christmas . . .

Shelly's Images shared a fun & yummy holiday CANDY BAR POUCH tutorial using Shelly's Images Full Colored Candy Cane digi image!

Hello everyone!  Team member (and Elf in Training), Darlene here, and anxious to share this fun & easy project with you!  It's a great item to have on hand during the holidays when unexpected visitors show up at your door and you'd like to have a little something to give them to let them know you appreciate them.  Let's get started!

You can use either solid color cardstock for your base or designer paper ... the choice is yours!  Depends on how clean & simple ... or how fancy you want to make your pouch!  Cut your paper 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" then score along the 6 1/2" side at 3" and 6" ... leaving a 1/2" margin for your adhesive.  I suggest you use a strong adhesive like Red Line Tape or Scor-Tape.

Simply fold along your score lines.  Add your adhesive along the 1/2 margin and a small piece at the BOTTOM inside to keep your candy bar from falling through.

Next you'll want to punch a hole where your ribbon will slide through.  I've used a 1/2" circle (that's what I had on hand) but you can use an oval punch or an elongated slit punch ... what ever works with the size of ribbon you choose to use.

Next comes the fun of embellishing the front of the candy pouch.  I am using a piece of scrap Christmas design paper I had in my scrap bin for my background.  This panel is cut at 6 1/2" x 2 3/4".  The QUICK & EASY part comes by using Shelly's Images Pre-Colored Candy Cane digi image which (if you hurry) you can get for FREE today through the end of our 12 Days of Christmas Party!  Check out yesterday's post for details on getting your FREE candy cane image.  My only other embellishment is the Merry Christmas sentiment which is a die from Cheery Lynn Designs.

After printing out several Candy Canes on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock, I did a little fussy cutting to have enough candy canes available for all my holiday candy pouches.  You can adjust the size of this image to suit your needs (wonderful thing about digis!!!).  Also, please take note that these measurements are for the FULL SIZE PLAIN HERSHEY BAR.

Once you choose the ribbon you want to use, you will need to cut a strip about 30" long.  Push the ribbon through both holes at the top and pull up until the ends are the same length.  Next you push the Hershey Bar down into the pouch, between the ribbon, all the way to the bottom, pushing down the ribbon with the Hershey Bar.  Then tie a pretty bow at the top.
Pull up with bow and SURPRISE!

Not only do these make a wonderful little gift treat for friends and neighbors, but they are also an awesome stocking stuffer!  Who doesn't like a Hershey Bar???   I hope you've enjoyed this little tutorial and will give it a try!

Please be sure to come back tomorrow for another FUN DAY at the Shelly's Images 12 Days of Christmas Party!  I'll be here ... hope you will be too!

HAVE FUN!

On the 2nd Day of Christmas....

Shelly's Images gave to meeeeee....ok, better not try to sing it.  I don't want to scare everyone away.  :)
Today we are sharing this fun Paper Christmas Stocking project idea and template.

This is my favorite Christmas project this year and I am so excited to share the template and instructions on how to make these cute stockings.

So let's get started.  You can choose to print the pattern onto the wrong side of your paper or cut out and trace your pattern onto your paper.  I actually imported the pattern using the "pixel trace" option with my Make the Cut Software.  The only piece that isn't on the pattern is the small rectangle that is used as the "hanger".  This piece of cardstock is approximately 1/2 inch by 4 inches.

The template is available for download using the links below.

1. If you are printing the template using Word just insert the template as a picture into your document.  The pattern is 8 1/2 by 11 so it will insert perfectly into the document.  Before printing make sure you have all of your margins set to 0.  If you have any trouble with the pattern just email me and I will be happy to help.
The picture below shows all of my pieces organized.  I used Bazzill Cranberry for the cuff pieces and Bazzill Ivy for the stocking pieces.  The patterned paper is printed paper from Shery K Designs.  I am also using our "Santa" for the hanging tag on my stocking.  The full color version will be in our store very soon.
2. Start by using your favorite adhesive to attach the patterned paper cuff pieces to the cardstock cuff pieces.   If you would like to add stitching to the cuff be sure to do that step now.

 3. Use adhesive to attach the toe patterned paper pieces to the stocking.
Again, if you would like to add stitching you want to complete that stitching at this point.
4.  I found that the best adhesive for attaching the two stocking pieces together was Scor-Tape.  Just run it close to the edge of one stocking and then carefully line up both sides to attach.
 5. Use score tape again to make a loop for the hanger.  Just fold so both ends meet.  Then wrap the Scor-Tape all the way around for attaching to the stocking.
6.  Attach the loop to the corner opposite the toe.
7.  I used my ATG to add adhesive to the back of one cuff piece. Attach it to the stocking base.  I like to line up the top of the cuff piece with the top of the stocking piece and then allow the cuff to extend past the edge of the stocking on both sided.
8. Now that one side is attached you will be able to line up the cuff piece on the other side of the stocking.  I like to pick up the pieces and line them up to glue them.
9. Thread a length of ribbon through the "hanger" to hold our pretty tag.  I used a Spellbinders die to cut a scalloped circle.  Use adhesive to attach the ribbon to the top of the scalloped circle.  Then add adhesive to the back of the circle Santa piece and attach it on top of the ribbon.  Now the ribbon is nicely sandwiched between the scalloped circle and the Santa circle.
 10. I made a ribbon for the corner of my stocking using my Bow Easy.  I like to attach this ribbon with hot glue.

This cute stocking is wonderful for holding little gifts like gift cards.  As shown in the picture above you can just tuck them in your tree until you hand them out on Christmas morning.  I will be using these paper stockings at each place setting on our Christmas table.

I hope you enjoyed our 2nd Day of Christmas.  The templates and tutorial are offered here free, but please be kind enough to leave us a comment if you are downloading our templates.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for the fun that Darlene has planned.  You won't want to miss your opportunity to win a fun prize.

Tutorial Tuesday! Let's Have A Ball For Christmas!

Hello everyone! Are you ready to have a ball?! If so, then I have the tutorial for you!

Today, we are going to make a fun christmas ornament using digi images! How fun is that?
Are you ready to get started?!  Okay, let's go!

Supplies You Will Need

One clear glass (or plastic, if you prefer) Christmas ornament
Scissors
Acetate Sheet
Digi Image
Markers
Fishing Line
Tiny Hole Punch
Ribbon
White Glitter (Optional)
Funnel (If Using Glitter

Pic Of Supplies Assembled

The first thing you want to do, is to color your image, then cut it out, using fussy cutting.  Next, cut out a piece of acetate, to fit inside your ornament.  TIP: If you want your image not to move inside the bulb, cut the acetate only slightly smaller than the bulb.  If You'd like your image to dangle and swing freely inside the bulb, cut your acetate 1/4 - 1/2" smaller than the bulb.

Once You have colored your image and cut your acetate,  adhere your image to the acetate piece.  Be sure you use a very sticky adhesive!  I used glossy accents, as I have found this works best, since you will be manipulating this piece a bit, later.  Allow image to fully dry to the acetate, before completing the next steps!

Once your image is fully dried to the acetate, take a tiny hold punch and punch a hole in the center of the acetate, near the top edge.  now, run your fishing line through the hole, and tie it off to hold the image securely onto the line, as in the pic below:

Now, carefully roll the acetate up into a tube, small enough to fit the opening in your ornament.

Gently slide the rolled up acetate into the top of the ornament.  Be very careful to make sure the ends of the fishing line do not slip down into the ornament.  You want the ends of the fishing line to stick out from the top.  (I suggest leaving the line very long, to avoid the ends slipping down into the ornament.

Once the acetate is inside the ornament, it will still be partially curled up. You will need to take a long thin object, such as tweezers or the blade of a pair of scissor, and slide down into the ornament to straighten out the sides of the acetate, so that it lays flat.

At this point, now you may add glitter to the inside of your ornament, if you choose.  I have chosen not to add glitter inside this one, so that the image can be the main focus.  However, if you choose to use glitter inside yours, simply take a funnel, slide it inside the opening of the bulb and pour glitter in.  It looks best if you put glitter both in front of, and behind, the image.

Now, we are ready to cap our ornament.  Remove the metal hanger from the ornament cap.  Run the ends of the fishing line through the holes in the ornament cap.  One end in each hole.  Once the fishing line is in, pull it all the way though and tie it off in a knot, on the outside of the cap, to secure the acetate inside.  far you pull the fishing line through, will determine how much "wiggle" ability your image has inside, so play with it and decide the look you like, before tieing the fishing line.

Easy so far, right?! Oh and wow, we are almost done!

Take the metal hanger and slide it back into the holes in the cap, so that it fits securely into the ornament.  Once the hanger is back in place, add your ribbon through the hanger, tie it off in a bow, and voila! Your have a cute customized Christmas ornament!

So cute and Simple to make and everyone will love them!
Every year, it is a tradition to make ornaments for my coworkers, for Christmas.
Of course, I can't give them the same thing every year, so I'm always on
The lookout for new ideas for something different.

I think they are going to love these, and I hope YOU will, too!

Thank you so much for stopping by, today, and viewing my tutorial!
I hope you've enjoyed your stay here and I'd love to
hear what you think of the tutorial!

Please stop back, on Thursday, for a new challenge and your chance to win
a digi prize from Shelly's Images!

Have A Wonderful Day!
