Weekly Chit Chat Post - Week of July 25th

Hi Friends!

I had such a blast at the birthday party. I learned so much about many of you and I want to keep chatting. Please use this post to chat with us through the week.

Let us know what you think about Shelly's Images. What projects you are working on. What images you are looking for. Let us know about your family and where you live. Those are my favorite stories. The DT and myself will check the posts regularly too. So hopefully you will learn a little more about us as well.

We can't wait to hear from you!

  1. I will start and tell you about my Sunday. Well, my Saturday and Sunday actually. Yesterday I noticed a baby blue jay by our pool deck. The poor little thing was so tired and couldn't fly to the tree. So I went out to catch him and try to get him in the tree before our cat saw him as bird dinner. Today we found yet another baby blue jay in the yard. Only this little guy still had pin feathers. Well...I love birds. So I had to find a way to help him. We now have a round laundry basket bungee corded to our tree with a little blue jay in it. And great news!!! I saw the parent blue jays at the basket late this evening. I am keeping my fingers crossed. :)

  2. Shelly, Good thing you got to the babies first. My 80+ year old neighbor leaves food out,so we always have a yard full of strays, raccoons and various other animals. It keeps my little Shih Tzu busy trying to catch everything. I'm worried he's going to tangle with the wrong animal and get hurt.

  3. awww....what is your puppies name Lawren? This is the 4th baby blue jay that I have saved. The momma bird seems to be feeding the baby fine. This laundry basket seems to see alot of baby birds. ;)

  4. Sounds like you've got the Kansas Chapter of the Blue Jay Rescue going on over there Shelly!! We get a stray something every so often - but things have been quiet both at home and at the farm as of late (which is a GOOD THING!!)
Today is a quiet day for me, I hope. I'm looking forward to going home after work and doing some tinkering (we're supposed to get upper 80 low 90 weather today and humidity is creeping back in - YUCK!)

So I have to tell you about the new concoction my mom introduced me to last night - we have farm fresh cucumbers coming out of our EARS right now and instead of dipping ranch (which is my usual MO with most veggies), mom has been dipping the cukes in HUMMUS and believe it or not, it is AMAZING. So, you know what I'm picking up tonight on the way home - yep, a stock pile of hummus. Mmmmmmmmm, I can't wait!

    Have a great day girlz!

  5. Shelly - The dog's name is Houston. I have no idea where my daughter came up with that name for him. He's a wild one too.

Min - I have never tasted Hummus. People rave about it but I have never tried it.

  6. awwww.....Houston. :) Isn't it funny how their names just seem to "fit" them after awhile. We have a terrier mix named Jasmine and a tri color cocker spaniel named Toby. Actually....my son named him....and his full name is Toby the Tank.

Min...I haven't ever had Hummus either. When you talk about that I get the image of Tom Cruise trying hummus in "War of the Worlds". ;)

My favorite way to have cucumbers is to mix about a cup of mayonnaise and probably 1/2 cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons or so of vinegar. (I don't measure....I just taste it. So it may need more sugar than that) Then slice cucumbers and a little onion in. Let it set overnight. mmmm.....yummy.

Thanks for dropping in to chat with us Lawren. I hope more people will drop by to visit. :)
