Cake and Ice Cream - Birthday Party Day 3

The party is still going strong. And I am having so much fun reading the posts. Thank you so much for helping me celebrate!

Today it is time for Cake and Ice Cream.

Just comment to this post and let us know what treat you would bring for the birthday party. The treat can be absolutely ANYTHING. Maybe it is a traditional treat in your family, or a favorite food. Or a wonderfully yummy drink. And I love recipes, so if it is something that I absolutely must make and you can share a recipe then that would be fantastic too.

Remember, only one post per day and posts must be made by 11:59 p.m. CST tonight. Send everyone you know in to enter. And check back tomorrow for the last opportunity to enter. On Thursday I will combine all comments and draw 5 winners who will receive one image and one lucky winner who will receive 5 images.

  1. You need chips and dip. The salty with the sweet. Love that combination.

  3. Oh this one would be a toughie for me! Not because I'd want to deny you....it's your birthday....have whatever your heart desires...you deserve it!!!

The reason it's a toughie is because I've done Weight Watchers for the past 2 years. Next Tuesday I hope to reach my lifetime goal...I've lost 170 pounds in that 2 years! I'm celebrating by asking my friends to join me at Dairy Queen for a sundae. So please come, Shelly! Desserts have been a hard one for me the past 2 years...but this is one I can't wait to have.

  6. My favorite part of a celebration, besides the great company of friends and family, DESSERT! I'm going to post a link to 'whipped shortbread cookies' that are to die for! No kidding, these melt in your mouth because of the whipping part.

Now, I don't put the maraschino cherries on because I don't like dried fruits. So without the cherries it comes down to only 3 ingredients!
When baking these you must keep a close eye on them because they bake quickly and can burn.
    Hope you like them!

  7. I am partial to a chocolate zucchini cake I make ~ and since i see NO chocolate yet, that is surely what I would bring. I will hunt up the recipe for anyone that wants it!! (OK, I know where it is, am just too lazy to grab my cookbook out of the kitchen!)

  8. I would bring some of my homemade strawberry ice cream. The recipe is pretty much the same as you use for the ice cream freezer but I add the frozen strawberries and also add some cut up fresh strawberries. YUMMY GOOD STUFF!!!!! Gosh now I am hungry for the ice cream.....just might make some today.

  9. I have 3 favs of which I will bring the mincemeat cake (good for using up those extra jars from Christmas) is the only non alcoholic one. The whiskey apple meringue and the date and nut pudding are both so scrummy as well. And for those that say they don't like dates .. you can't taste them - that's what some friends said until they tried this. It has a very healthy dosing of brandy. I'm sorry but it's no good if you're on a diet.

  10. For your birthday, I would bring one of my favorites, blueberry cheesecake. My mom always made this every summer, and since it is summer and your birthday, I think we should all have a piece.

  12. I have a great simple recipe for you - it sounds a little weird but it sure is yummy!
This recipe is for all of those that like the sweet/salty combo.

    Frito Snack
    1 cup light corn syrup
    1 cup sugar
Bring to a boil and remove from heat (I usually use my microwave and my large pyrex measuring cup), stir until sugar is dissolved. Add
    1 cup creamy peanut butter
    Stir until smooth and creamy
Take one bag of Frito corn chips and spread into a single layer on a large cookie sheet/bar pan. Pour the peanut butter mixture evenly over the chips. Let set until mixture cools and firms up a bit. Just pull to eat - you could cut them but half of the fun is a nibble here - a nibble there.
Option: If you need chocolate - you can melt some chocolate chips and drizzle over the peanut butter - chip mixture.
