TTT Challenge Winners - Beach/Summer Theme Challenge

Time again to announce the winners of our challenge here at Shelly's Images.  As many of you know, the beach is one of my favorite places to be so this challenge is one of my favorites.  I loved seeing all of the beach and summer projects that were entered!

Our "Beary" Favorite project is #24 CraftyGirl from CraftyGirl Cards and Crafts. First I have to thank CraftyGirl for being such a regular here at Shelly's Images.  I always enjoy seeing the projects that CraftyGirl enters.   We loved this fun project!  Absolutely perfect for our challenge and such a wonderful sentiment!  I will be emailing you very soon with your $6 gift voucher.  Please also be sure to grab your "Beary" Favorite badge here.
We also have two more awards to round out our Top 3 for this challenge.  These awards go to #5 Michelle from Lady of Leisure Ink and #21 ScrappyMo! from Scraps of Life by ScrappyMo!

Michelle, this is another PERFECT project for this challenge.  When we visit the beach we go to Anna Maria Island in Florida.  I truly consider it my "home away from home".  Aaaanyway...we always make at least one visit to Joe's Eats and Sweets.  I swear there is no other place on Earth like it.  This project reminds me of our visits to Anna Maria Island and Joe's Eats and Sweets.  Ok, I have to share a picture of our youngest daughter Taylor with her ice cream from Joe's.  How about a little Throw Back Thursday? (TBT as my daughter informs me it is called)
Taylor's visit to Joe's Eats and Sweets in 2004
Faith (on the left) and my daughter Taylor with their Joe's
Eats and Sweets cones in 2012

Crazy how fast they grow up!  Whew, thanks for the little trip down memory lane!  We should get back to talking about our winners.

ScrappyMo! We really enjoyed the wonderful textures and beach elements on your amazing project.  It truly is wonderfully beachy.
Michelle and ScrappyMo!, please be sure to grab your Top 3 badge here.

Thanks again to everyone who entered our challenge.  Your creativity always inspires us.

Our new challenge is starting today.  I hope you will join us again.  We can't wait to see what you will create.

Tutorial Tuesday......Twin Bags

Hello my friends, it's my turn again to do a tutorial and you all know by now, I love little projects and gift-things. You don't have tot have a lot of things to make something special, you need a dubble printed piece of design paper, 12 x 12 inch, a scoretool, a eyeletsetter, some eyelets and ribbon or twine.....

I use my scorepal, but feel free to do it otherwise, score at 1 and 11 inch.......and fold the piece inside and put on some tape......oohh I forgot, you do need tape or glue.......not much though.....

After putting inside the flaps rotate your paper 90 degrees and score at 3,5 and 8,5 inch, once again fold on the lines and tape the flaps it now should look like the photo beneath....

Now the most hard to explain like above put it on your scorepal and score at 4 1/8 and 5 inch then turn it around (rotate 180 degrees) and score at 4 1/8 again, you have three scorelines, fold them....

After folding it should look like this.........almost there....LOL

Standing up it looks like this, you can see the two bags already, before making twins out of them, put your eyelets in....

After the eyelets put some tape inside and make a twinbag (I made a little mistake and had to cut it loose and ad the eyelets first, you can see I forgot the eyelets in my first attempt......

Now put some ribbon or twin making handles and your twinbags are finished it has the side of 5 x 4 1/8 inche and you can now start decorating it  and filling it with some gifts, a present or something sweet....

I hope you like it and I've giving you some inspiration.........

This digi stamp is done in a "pencil" sketch format.  We have tested the digi on multiple printers but we understand that all printers are a little different.  Adjustments can easily be made by emailing Shelly at shelly@shellysimages.com if you find that the digi prints too lightly on your printer.

Darlene was nice enough to make a sample with our newest digi.  I absolutely love, love, love the sentiment she used!  Perfect for this digi stamp.  And aren't those bubbles cute?

We always love to hear from you when you drop in, so be sure to leave a little comment below.  You never know when Shelly might choose a random comment to receive this fun digi stamp.

TTT Challenge Winner's - Show us What you Got!

Happy Thursday everyone!  It is hard to believe that it is already June!  Although we have had a cooler than usual Spring so we haven't had any fun days in the pool yet.  I hope your June is off to a great start!  There were so many FABULOUS entries in our Show us what you got! Challenge that it is truly nearly impossible to choose our favorite 3 entries.  We sure tried our hardest and here are the 3 we chose.

Our "Beary" Favorite project is #44 Trisha from Sassy and Southern. We loved this amazing card.  All the elements come together perfectly for the "outdoorsy" campfire feel.  And I love how the paper buckle comes through the image mat.  It really is a fabulous touch.   Trisha, I will be emailing you very soon with your $6 gift voucher.  Please also be sure to grab your "Beary" Favorite badge here.
We also have two more awards to round out our Top 3 for this challenge.  These awards go to #92 Rebecca from Sydney's Sentiments and #136 Margreet from Margreet's Scrapcards!

Rebecca, this project is truly stunning.  The bright yellows that you chose give such a sunny feel and your coloring is absolutely amazing.  This project is a true work of art.

Margreet, we just loved everything about your project.  Everything on your project really tells the story of the theme.  And I love the soft feather in contrast to the texture on the shells and the doily and the lace.  Great work!

Rebecca and Margreet, please be sure to grab your Top 3 badge here.

Thanks again to everyone who entered our challenge.  Your creativity always inspires us.

Our new challenge is starting today.  I hope you will join us again.  We can't wait to see what you will create.

How to make your nestabilitie longer for your picture

Hi ladies,
Today it's my turn to place a workshop on the blog.
And I am going to show you how you can make your nestabilitie longer.
Some pictures are small and your nestabilitie is sometimes small enough, but not long enough.

I use this digi to show it to you, and will
make this picture one sculp longer.
This is the nestabilitie I need.

Place the nestabilitie a little bit further above the flower then you see on my first picture.
And use some tape to hold it on the right place.
On the other end you have to place a piece of thick cardstock.
Then use your cuttlebug, go halfway (you can't go further, because the cardstock) and then back.

Then it looks like this.

Cut away the paper you don't need..

Place the nestabilitie a bit lower then the first time, I did one sculp, but it can also be three
sculps as well.
Just what you need for your picture.

Use tape to hold it on his place.
And place your cardstock on the top of the flower.
Run it halfway through your cuttlebug and back.
You can't go further because of your cardstock between it.

As you can see one sculp longer.
This does not work for every nestabilitie.
But it is perfectly for rectangles, hearts in rectangles, sculps and many things more.
You just have to take a good look at your nestabilitie to see if it works.
This is my card with the digi.

I hope you like the workshop and have a nice day.
Hugs Marianne

Thursday Chuckle....and a little REMINDER!

Ever have one of those days?
Well, that's how I kicked off my week this past Monday so I thought I'd share my not so glorious moment with you - you may be able to relate and if not, hopefully you'll have a chuckle at which point you'll say to yourself - "Man, Really Sucks to be You!"  :)

So, SUMMER has arrived here in Michigan beginning this weekend (Spring has completely avoided making an appearance)  The HOT HOT & HOT began on Saturday (85*), Sunday, 87* and today I saw 93* on the thermometer - with no end in sight this week. Hubby and I have been refusing to turn on the Air Conditioning until at least June - you know when Summer REALLY starts.....
(as in 11 days from now.....uh, yah).
Why do I tell you all this boring weather information about SP-UMMER in Michigan - because you'll need to know this as the story progresses.  :)  Really - there is a method to my madness.....unfortunately we sometimes take the Scenic Route to the Final Destination.....

So, NO AC when we went to bed last night - hubster kicked his share of all covers to my side of the bed all night, leaving me in a puddle of SWEAT all-night.

Got up this morning, SWEATING
Got into the shower this morning, SWEATING
Got OUT of the shower this morning, SWEATING
Stood infront of the fan this morning, SWEATING
Got Dressed this morning, SWEATING
TRIED to curl my hair this morning, SWEATING
(Are you noticing a trend here?)
(can you say LOST CAUSE - REALLY BAD HAIR DAY??)
Got into car and finally got some AIR - with my LOST CAUSE - REALLY BAD HAIR DAY flowing in the breeze.
Left Sunroof cracked when I stop at our first office - Rain that was supposed to come between 3 - 5 pm, showed up at 9 am.  Seat was a bit wet when I got back into the car adding to the WET/SWEATING/REALLY BAD HAIR/EXTRA HUMIDITY kind of day...
Got back in car with REALLY BAD HAIR DAY and EXTRA HUMIDITY and headed to main office.
(Are you noticing another trend here?)
Got to main office - temperature is 85* and MORE HUMIDITY than when I GOT INTO the car 30 minutes earlier, with laptop bag, water bottle, iced tea, my 'luggage' style purse & 20 pound bag full of current magazines (I work for a magazine publisher).
At least I got a CLOSE parking spot......Thank GOD for small favors!
JUGGLED my load while trying to dig access badge out of said luggage.
Spilled iced tea briefly onto pants and into one sandal.
FOUND access badge
SHOVED my way through TOO SMALL full body turn-styles they just installed with above mentioned luggage and 'weight-lifting' materials.

Okay, so HERE'S where it gets good...if you can believe it at this point...
and it's only 12:05 pm.

So, I've NEVER been stuck in an elevator....that is, until this past Monday (NOTE TO SELF - NEVER SAY NEVER!!!) - on one of the hottest days of the year so far in Michigan, during Monday lunch rush, at work....in an elevator with NO Air Conditioning....for 40+ minutes....with 4 other people....while we waited for the elevator repair man to arrive and pry open the doors to let us out.....

Did I mention it was 85* when I got into the elevator and that there was NO Air Conditioning?
Uh, Yah.....
But our release from our little 8x8 sweat box didn't end the REALLY BAD HAIR DAY - SWEAT-fest drama......
There was NO WAY I was getting back into another little 8'x8' sweat box, so what did I get to do??
CLIMB 10 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS, with 20 pounds of magazines, a laptop/bag, 'luggage' size purse, WET PANTS and WET, Squeaky Sandals, SWEATING my brains out!

I have NEVER been so happy to get to my desk as I was on Monday!

Yep, that's one thing I can check off my Bucket List - Get stuck in Elevator when it's hotter than H-E-Double hockey Sticks - Yep, been there, done that, no need for a T-Shirt!

NOTE TO SELF:  Taking stairs for rest of life.....You CAN'T get STUCK 'IN' Stairs!

Best part of the day - coming home to my hubby who decided at 93* today, we needed to turn on the Air Conditioning, EVEN if it was before June!
{Insert Laugh Track HERE}

.....Okay, so back to our regularly scheduled programming.....
