TTT Challenge Winner's - Sew Much Fun!

As many of you may know, I love seeing sewing on projects.  It just seems to add such interest and texture and somehow I think it adds to that "homemade" feeling. Thank you so much to everyone who entered our SEW Much Fun Challenge.

Our "Beary" Favorite project is Sarah from Plain and Fancy Crafts.  Sarah, this project is just stunning. The Design Team and I love the lattice and how you used it in this project.  And we loved those beautiful flowers climbing over the lattice.  Such a wonderful touch! To top it all off the blanket stitching that you used really makes a statement and is PERFECT for our SEW Much Fun Challenge.

Sarah,  I will be emailing you very soon with your $6 gift voucher.  Please also be sure to grab your "Beary" Favorite badge here.

We also have two more awards to round out our Top 3 for this challenge.  These awards go to Emily from Em's Many Thoughts and Susie from Susie's Craft Creations!

Emily, what an astounding job you did with our Bluebirds digi stamp.  I am absolutely in love with this project.  I love how you used the blank sign included in the set and added your own sentiment.  Just perfect!

Susie, such a fun project.  We loved the stitching on your sentiment.  What a great touch for this challenge.  And all of the lace and pearls are so fun on this amazing project.

Emily  and Susie please be sure to grab your Top 3 badge here.

Tutorial/Technique Tuesday: Making It Fit

Hello Everyone and welcome to another Tutorial/Technique Tuesday here at Shelly's Images!

Have you ever had a pretty piece of design paper you'd love to use on a card but just know that once you cut it to fit you are going to loose the pretty pattern?  Well here's a trick I use ALL THE TIME!

Here is a piece of adorable design paper from the Prima Sweet Fairy 6x6 paper stack that I would like to use on my A-6 size card (6 1/4" x 4 1/2").

As you can see, when you cut the paper to the 6 x 4 1/4" panel you need for the front of your card, you loose part of the pretty pattern!  Here is my solution to the problem . . .

Take the piece that you cut off and layer it on top of your 6 x 4 1/4" panel and adhere the two together.  Now you say ... BUT THEY DON'T MATCH UP!  Well, here's my solution to THAT problem . . .

By taking a strip of paper that matches your base card (this is actually one of the pieces I cut off my 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock to make my base card), punch it on both sides using your favorite border punch or die and adhere it over top where your design paper is seamed.  That's basically all you have to do!  As you can see, once again it appears that the background paper is all one piece and perfectly matched!  Now have fun decorating the front of your card.  Here are a couple of samples I have to share with you today.

For my first card I've simply added a Birthday stamped sentiment to my lacy panel.

And here I've gotten a little fancier by adding a strip of pink satin ribbon over my lacy panel ... then printed out Shelly's Images "B is for Birthday Sentiment".  I achieved the yellow shadowing by leaving my die cut circle inside the die and sponging a little Momento Dandelion ink around the edge before removing it from the die.  This is a nice way to make it look like you have another mat without the bulk of more paper.

I hope you have enjoyed today's little tip and find it useful.  Please be sure to stop back on Thursday for theTerrifically Thrilling Thursday Challenge and check out another AMAZING NEW IMAGE from Shelly!  I tell you ... this girl is ON A ROLL!!!

See you there!

Houston...we have a problem!!!

Unfortunately our Shelly's Images.com website is down.

I have been in touch with technical support and have been told that the issue seems to be a server problem.  It is very rare to have outages like this and especially for this period of time.

Hopefully things will be fixed and everything will be back online soon.

Thanks for your patience.

Tutorial Tuesday: Dimensional Card

Happy Tutorial Tuesday!
Anytime I'm scheduled for a 'head-poobah' week (are you thinking Flintstones?  Can you see Fred in his Furry oversized Poobah hat?  =)
Okay, back to the thought - anytime I'm scheduled for a week, I always ask myself, "Self, what would I like to learn today?"
Well, today I have decided to show you how to make this popped up 'dimensional' card.
I LOVE DIMENSION (almost as much as I love BLING!)  =)

But TODAY - it's all about DIMENSION!!!
So here we go!
Grab some paper you want to use - as you can see, I picked a few complimentary papers & patterns.
I started by using my Cuttlebug and my Circle Nestie to cut out the image I'm planning to use (the new Bluebirds image)

I'm putting a border around this image that will be dropped below a frame and several layers of paper, so I took two nesties - one for an outside frame and the circle for the center of the frame.
Below is what the frame will look like once it's been cut out.
So, now we'll cut a hole in the base of the card we plan to use - I used my cuttlebug again and the same size circle nestie that I used to cut out my image as well as the center of the frame.
Below I cut through 2 pieces of paper - the Green cardstock base as well as the patterned paper.
Now that the hole is cut below, I'll begin to assemble my card.
I placed the image below  this two layer mat on the Kraft base.
This is where we start adding the dimensionals - there are two layers, one layer on the print/green layer as well as the Peach Frame that we cut out earlier.
This is a photo so you can see some of the layers.
After the layers are put together, I added some bling, a sentiment, border and a little ribbon to finish it off!
And VOILA - here's the beauty I ended up with -

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial today - I had so much fun making this one, I can't wait to make another one!  =)
Hugs & Happy Days!
