TTT Challenge Winners - Show us what you got!

Thanks so much for all of the amazing entries this week for our "Show us what you got!" challenge.  It is soooo hard to choose winners with so many amazing projects.

The Gold Medal Award winner is Gunn from Ms Plum's Place
Gunn, I am so happy to see your entry here.  Seems like forever since I caught up with you in blog land or at CDAC.  This project is STUNNING.  And as a self professed addict of sentiments, I have to say that this one ranks at the top of my list.  I love all of the additions from the black pearls to the metal pieces.  Just beautiful!

Our Silver Medal Award winner is Desire from Doing Life.
Desire, this is another stunning project.  We loved the easel fold and all of the additions and embellishments.  The rafia through the metal pieces and buttons adds a warmth and nice texture.  And the sequins somehow magically fit right in.  Thanks too for the quarter fold instruction.  I need to bookmark those so I can give those a try.

And, Our Bronze Medal Award winner is Debra from Designs by DJ.  Debra we loved the technique you used on these fantastic cards.  The effect is so pretty and soft.  And I love that you kept the rest of the card simple so the beauty of the technique and your coloring could really stand out.  Really, really pretty!

And the Top Hat Award (first name out of the hat using random.org) is Gina from Gina's Krafty Place. Gina, I love the red and black colors you chose to go with this image.  And the blush on her cheeks is the perfect addition.  ;)

Winners...be sure to get to the store right away to register if you haven't already.  Just click store in the top tab and enter your registration.  Your gift voucher will be added to your account.  Gift vouchers expire after 30 days.  If you are making a new registration please be sure to email Shelly at shelly@shellysimages.com.  Sometimes full names aren't used at blogs which can be confusing with registration.  So just email me to let me know which registration is yours.

Little Tote Bags

Kitten calling here -

OK - I am going to share with you the secret of my fave little tote bags.  I use these loads (this is what the Grasmere Gingerbread wedding favour bags is based on (but made to fit the gingerbread slices - shhhhh)
FIRST - slice a 4" section off a double sided scrapbook paper.  Make it a decent weight - but not too thick as that tends to crack

Score at 4" - 5" - 9" - 10"

- just love these scoring boards - makes it so much easier.  You have to remember that sometimes I have to make a batch of 100+ for the weddings

And the score at 1/2" - 3"

So - now you have your basic template lined up - you need to cut a V at the base (the larger section) - so the bottom tucks up neat
You also need to trim off the top and bottom of the SMALLER section that is going to wrap around and make your bag - so that it sits neat

The smaller section of the long side is the top - and needs to be tucked under before you shape the bag round

Make sure you give it a really crisp fold - then the corners will be neater

Next you tuck your bottom in (painless - I promise).

Fold the shorter narrow sides in first - then layer the longer front and back over them.

Tiny tip - I use PVA glue for the base - yes - as fiddle - but it's a stronger bond

Punch a couple of holes on each of the longer sides and tie a loop of ribbon for a handle - I use about 91/2" for each side - but I am on a budget - a good 12" will make a lovely long handle.

Than just have a ball adding an image!

You can adjust the side measurements to suit what ever you need - and make it deeper if you wish - but I just love this dinky little size

Have fun!

Yours
kitten xx

Tutorial Tuesday - Creating a 'Scene'

Today on Shelly's Images Tutorial/Technique Tuesday
I'd like to share with you how I like to 'Create a Scene' using sponges and ink.

Heavy cardstock was used as masking
to sponge on a lighter blue ink
to create a 'horizon' line between the sky & water.

The white cardstock was then turned and masking was
repositioned on the same 'horizon' line so darker blue ink
could be added (as the deeper water).

Using the same masking, the 'torn' edge was used to
create the 'sand' line with the brown ink.

By positioning your masking back over the 'sand line'
and using a DARKER brown ink, I have used this
Ala Art stamp to create 'lines in the sand'.

Again, repositioning your straight cut masking
on the horizon line and using the same Ala Art stamp,
I have created ripples in the water.  This stamp
is designed to use as SAND when stamped one direction
and WATER when flipped around and stamped the other direction.

By laying a clean piece of masking on the same
'horizon' line, I have sponged with coral ink
to create a 'sunset' effect.

By laying you masking back on the 'horizon' line,
stamp the sun 'going down' and a few 'wisps' in the sky
using a foam sponge pod.

Now all that is left is to add some wildlife and watercraft
 to complete my scene.

(NOTE: A white Prisma pencil was used along the 'surf' line  for added dimension.)

And here is my completed project.
This is a LOT OF FUN and can certainly be adapted to utilize digi images as well.
Why not give it a try ... and when you do, we would LOVE to see your creation!

Please be sure to come back Thursday for another TERRIFICALLY THRILLING THURSDAY CHALLENGE here at Shelly's Images!  Hope to see you there!

Under Construction

Hi everyone!  And Happy Friday!

I just wanted to let everyone know about some blog construction that we are busy working on.  Darlene and I have been hard at work making "Spotlight On...." posts for some of the most outstanding projects by our Design Team.

Once we are finished we feel that our "Labels" area in the sidebar will be a great place to get inspiration for your paper crafting projects.  For instance, if you are making a Birthday project but your mojo has gone missing, you can click our Birthday label to see some projects from our fabulous Design Team.

While we are getting caught up with past projects you may notice a larger number of posts if you subscribe to our RSS feeds or follow our blog by email.  Please be patient with us and we promise to be all caught up in a couple of days.

Have a fabulous weekend friends!

TUTORIAL TUESDAY

I hope you all had some quality time with your loved ones at Easter, and didn't eat too many Eggs! Today it's Tuesday again, and I have a SPRINGCARD to make. This is what you need: - Piece of Cardstock 5 x 10 inches - Cutting tool - Scoring tool - Adhesive (I use tape from Scorepal) - Design Papers and embelishments - A digi from Shelly's Images
Take your piece of Cardstock and score at 2,5 and 5 inch
Mark the Cardstock at the long side at 7,5 inch (above and beneth) and at the short side at 2,5 inch
Now score diagonal from 2,5 till 7,5 inch both sides and fold as shown
Cut off the outside triangles
Fold the Springcard and to make sure it can stand, put some adhesive as shown.
Now you can start decorating it, as you wish. I made mine with papers from Maja , used last week's featured Image once more cause I love it so much, the text says Cows and Mills, really Dutch. I hope to have inspired you to make a Springcard, and make sure to be back on Thursday to see the new Featured Image and all the work of our wonderfull DT-ladies!
