TIME FOR TUESDAY TUTORIAL!!

How many of us LOVE buttons, brads and flowers with Sparkle, but don't want to pay inflated prices to get some?!?  If you fall into that category, I have an amazingly easy way to achieve the sparkle effect without spending a mint.

First step, find some glitter - whatever color you wish and some glue.  If I'm doing a brad or flower I usually use a really light textured glue such as JudiKins glaze.  I like Mod Podge for the heavier items, such as buttons.  Although today I used JudiKins for the buttons and it worked fine.

Ok, now once you start this process, you need to work quickly because you don't want your glue to dry and get all clumpy when you add the glitter.  So I make a pile of glue and then some piles of glitter and dip the items in the glue and then the glitter and voila!

Then, just pick out your image - mine is from SHELLY'S IMAGES SHOP and make your card.  I didn't use all that I made because I didn't love the silver on the flower, but that's ok.  Might use it for something else:)

Hope you will find this helpful:)  Have a wonderful day!!

Tutorial Tuesday- New Tutorial!!

Hi fellow crafters!!

This week we have a Tutorial that you will love
specially to add a little gift in the card for those
that love a good book!

The Tutorial is for you to create a Bookmark Card!

Here is my Bookmark Card and the inside from the
card for you to see.

Bookmark Card Tutorial:

Supplies needed:
Digital Stamp
Cardstock 12x12 Inches
Christmas patterned paper
Glitter

Markers or Pencils for coloring
Ribbons
Embellishments

Step 1: Cut cardstock to 5 ½ x 12 inches
Step 2: I used a rectangle Digital stamp called Sleigh Ride from Shelly’s Images, that's why my card will
be rectangular in shape.
Color the Digital stamp to your delight on your pc and print it out or print it out and color it
with your favorite markers.

Step 3: For the bookmark cut a piece of cardstock measuring 3 ¾ x 5 ½ inches.

Step 4: Make 3 Folds in the 5 ½ x 12 inch piece of cardstock.
        1st fold: 3 ¼
        2nd fold: 4 ½ inches
        3rd fold  5 ¼ inches

Step 5: Cut a piece from Christmas patterned paper for the background on your card.

Decorate the back from the card by adhering the printed colored Digital Stamp.
Step 5: Adhere the ribbon to the card.

Step 6: The size for the bookmark is 3 ¾ x 5 ½ inches.
Use the same patterned paper for the bookmark. Cut it about ½  inch smaller at both sides

and about 1 inch less at the top.

Step 7: decorate it with flowers and punch a hole in the center and put
a piece of ribbon through it.

Step 8: close the card and put the bookmark at the inside of the card.
hold it in place with a 3D square.

Now we would love to see your Bookmark Card this week.

Have fun!

Technique Tuesday

Being the frugal sort, I often see many other uses for common things (aka: trash) that I come across in my travels. This cute little box arrived at our door after DH broke his cellphone and needed another! I inverted the entire box to find...a blank canvas! Woo Hoo! This was going to PERFECT for a tutorial on Distressing and Gift Wrapping!!! So here we are...

I dug out my recycled box, Distress Inks, coordinating Memento Inkpads, ivory cardstock, makeup sponges and set to play!

I worked from a light color (Antique Linen) to a dark color (Tattered Rose), using the Distress Inks to lightly dab color onto the plain surface of the open box. I worked atop a 12x12 piece of ivory cardstock which I did for a few reasons. For one, it protected my desktop from ink stains, but it also saved time and wastes less ink later! I will show how I used the ink-distressed cardstock further  on in this tutorial. After finishing with the Distress Inks, I allowed them to dry somewhat before moving onto the next step.

Using wedge shaped makeup sponges, I sponged on two more coordinating colors of Memento Ink. This time, I started with the darker 'Rhubarb Stalk' color, and then mellowed the color and blended the shades a bit with 'Desert Sand'. I recommend that you use a different sponge for each color, and don't overdue the color. Less is definitely better in this case...especially because the inks will spread together nicely while still showing off the brilliant colors!

Turning my Rhubarb Stalk Memento on it's side and holding it on an angle, I used the edge of the inkpad to make a subtle uneven design across all sides of the box. Then I reversed the angle and went over it all again as shown above.  Below is a picture of the still wet side of the box.

However, as the ink dried it feathered and spread leaving an interesting distressed pattern on the box. To see the finished box,

So...what about that ink-stained ivory cardstock I used as a work surface? Well, I COULDN'T waste it! Afterall, I did stain it on purpose!  Instead I re-purposed it to make background paper!

Using the same makeup wedges and technique as I explained above, I distressed the rest of the cardstock. I deliberately made it a random design, and the ink that I'd gotten on it before easily blended right in! But wait! Why did I crumple it up? Was I unhappy with it? Was I going to throw it away after all of that?

NO WAY! I often distress edges and backgrounds by crushing, crumpling, randomly inking the creases! I've even been known to ink the bottom of a coffee mug to make a 'coffee ring' on the paper!
I also usually edge-distress using my fingernails, emery boards, and dull scissor edges!  See how cool this one turned out below?

I used this background cardstock in two projects so far and have a few scraps left to use yet! Check out one HERE and another one HERE! Be sure to show us what you create from what I've shown you in this tutorial! We'd LOVE to see it!See you on Thursday for another fun Terrifically Thrilling Thursday Challenge!

Technique Tuesday Matchbox with Prancer

Matchbox with Prancer.

Today I want to show you how I dressed up the matchbox with an image from Shelly.
I choose to work with Prancer. I love this beautiful image of him.
First of all I took the messurements of the box and choose the paper I want to work with.

Then you cut the the papers to the right size for the top and the front of the box.
I cut leaves with my Martha Stewart puch out of Green bazzil cardstock and the holy with a Nellie punch.
And then I colored the image of Prancer.

After that I cut the image on size and rounded the corners. I stamped the word on DCP paper and cut and embossed it with an oval nestabilitie and colored the edges with distress ink Peeled paint.

I took some transparent pearls and colored them with the airbrush.

Then I assembled the whole box with all the parts that are now ready.

Hope you like it and make one too and show it to us!
