Marvelous Monday at Shelly's Images

Today it is another Marvelous Monday!

Goodmorning to you all... It's monday again... My son is finished with his finals and now he has to wait a long time to hearing the results... so till then he will be home, gaming, working his weekend job during his holiday and be a bit nervous...
My Daughter is going to Graduate in September.. So lucky for me I don't have to split myself in two pieces to be at both their school at the same time.

But back to crafting.... today is Monday... and over here at
And since I will be the DT leader for all week I have the honor to show you this wonderful newbie.
Hook, Line, and Sinker

This is a beautiful image drawn by guest artist (and Shelly's daughter) Meghann. It is perfect for Father's Day or any masculine card. This image is perfect to be used with our "Dock" image (coming friday as an extra release) and our "Fishing Freebies" (to be released Friday as well).
And don't forget to go there today, cause it will be just on a discount today. So for the fabulous price of $ 2.00 you catch this fish and bring it home

This is what I made with it...

And Bev made a wonderful layout using this fish as well.

Scrappy's stylish card with that wonderfull bubbles on the background DP

And last but not least... this lovely card by Audrey

The great thing of this image is that it can be used for so many occasions. Of course for Fathers Day, on a layout like Bev did, or how about a card for your loved one with this sentiment on it.
And there are so many more possibilities that I will be showing you this week.
So stay tuned to the blog HERE to see more.

Hope you like it and leave us a lovely comment

TERRIFICALLY THRILLING THURSDAY CHALLENGE!

Welcome to TTTHURSDAY! I hope you have enjoyed the week so far, it has been great fun being DT leader:) I'm SOO EXCITED about today's challenge. This is a 2 part challenge. First part of the challenge is my VERY FIRST sketch. I hope you like it. You can flip it, rotate it, whatever you choose as long as you follow the basic sketch.
Now the second part of this challenge (the twist) is that you must use PAPER PIECING somewhere on your image. I love paper piecing and I think it works GREAT with SHELLY'S IMAGES. So, here is my project, I hope you like it and I can't wait to see what you create!! HAVE FUN:) Remember, that although we'd love to see you use a SHELLY'S IMAGE, it is not required to participate in the challenge.

For details on my card, please visit AUDREY'S BLOG.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY - FUN WITH FOLDERS!

I have 2 techniques to share with you today and both involve Embossing Folders. The first folder I used is from Sizzix and the other 2 are from Cuttlebug. My first technique involves using one piece of paper for both your image and your background. I printed out the image and trimmed the paper to 4 x 5.25 inches. Then, I cut out the image using nesties.

Next, I took my Sizzix Embosing folder and ran the rest of the paper through the Big Shot. Finally, I put the center piece back in, so it looks like the picture on the right.

Then, I colored the SHELLY'S IMAGES image with Copics, daubed the embossed flowers and edges of the image with SU Melon Mambo and mounted it on SU melon mambo CS. Finally, I stamped an Artful Inkables sentiment using SU Melon mambo on core-dinations vintage green paper and cut out with SU punch. The result is a card that looks pretty complicated, but as you can see, it's quite simple and fun!!!

Next technique I am going to share with you today uses 2 Cuttlebug folders. Try for one with a subtle pattern all the way through (the dots) and the other one with a larger, bolder pattern that does not cover the entire folder/paper (the flower one). So first you run the image that you want to be least prominent through the Big Shot (first image of orange paper). Next, you run the image that you want to be more prominent. So you can see on the paper on the left, there is a nice imprint of the flower pattern and the subtle pattern of the dots which adds a bit of extra texture to the paper.

Then, I mounted the paper on CS, in this case core-dinations vintage green. Embossed impressions are on SU pumpkin pie. Then you can add your image, etc. I used this SUPER SHELLY'S IMAGE (decided to stick with the umbrella theme), which I colored with Copics and Atyou Spicas. Then I cut the image out with scissors and stamped Hampton Art sentiment on SU more mustard with SU garden green ink. Again, another very simple and fun technique that looks cool and like it took hours:) I also realized that I have used no DP so far this week and that my first card fits into SHELLY'S IMAGES current challenge, which is to use a white background for your card!
I hope these techniques have provided some inspiration for you! Please let us know what you think!
